A Few Words About Us & Some Helpful Tips

Wedding World is situated in Telford, Shropshire.

Telford has rapidly grown into a thriving town and is in a beautiful location just a few miles from the Ironbridge Gorge. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by beautiful countryside. Our Bridal salon is in a convenient location between Shrewsbury, on the welsh border and Wolverhampton. Conveniently just a few minutes from Junction 6 off the M54. There's a map and directions on our 'find us' page.

We opened in 1983, the first Bridal salon in Telford and have been helping Bride's & Groom's and the rest of the wedding party for 23 years.

You won't find stuffy or pushy sales people when you come to visit us. You'll feel very welcomed and we'll listen to you and help you find the dress of your dreams and if you don't know what you are looking for then you can rely on our experience in guiding you towards the right dress for you.

We want you to feel like a million dollars on your wedding day so we won't try and sell you a dress that isn't right for you, that doesn't make you look and feel fantastic and if you don't find your dream gown with us (but we're sure you will!) then we hope you enjoy your visit anyway.

 Finding that dream gown..........

......is sometimes difficult, sometimes easy. Don't worry if you don't seem to be able to find 'the one' during your first visit to a Bridal salon. The gown you eventually choose may take a while to decide upon. Sometimes it can be the first one you try, sometimes the last. It's a good idea when first trying on gowns to keep an open mind. The dress in the glossy mag may look stunning  but when you try it, it just may not be the one for you. Try different styles, even ones you don't think you will like. You may be surprised how good a dress will look when on the hanger it does nothing for you at all. We can offer you a bespoke design service should you fail to find the perfect gown from our many samples. There are sumptuous fabrics to choose from and our design team will work with you every step of the way to create your vision.

Be different! Why stick with ivory or white? There are so many stunning gowns varying from a hint of subtle colour to all out full shades. Rich clarets or candy pinks, warm champagnes to deep gold's, icy blues to midnight navy or even black. Ivory or white gowns with colour in their detailing are in abundance. There is so much choice, dare to be different!

When planning your appointments at Bridal salons be wary of the ones that are frequently advertising in every publication you read. It could be that they are either new and trying to get as much business as possible without the experience to assist you with such an important purchase or they are a struggling business who are finding they need to advertise more than others.

A reliable, established Bridal salon relies on word of mouth and reputation and does not need to advertise to such a great extent. Your gown is possibly the most costly item of clothing you will ever purchase and you need to feel secure in the knowledge that the Salon you purchase from is secure and reliable and will help you everyItem No: EC026 step of the way from the moment you walk through the door of the salon, through the fitting and alterations stages to the moment you walk into your ceremony looking gorgeous for your new husband but more importantly, for yourself.

Your gown will generally take around 14 - 16 weeks to be delivered to us from the time of ordering. Of course if you choose to hire your gown from our large selection then the gown will already be with us.

Your first fitting usually takes place around 4 weeks before your wedding. This is an exciting time! It means that the big day is nearly here and your dress is being tailored to fit you perfectly. You'll need your shoes and, if possible, any underwear you will be wearing on the day.

Your gown will then be altered to fit. Our seamstresses work to the highest standards and are professionally trained with a vast amount of experience in working with Bridal wear.

Relax...........

......and above all else, enjoy yourself! The planning stages of your wedding should be as enjoyable as possible. Remember, if you have chosen professionals with good long standing reputations to help you with your planning and provide excellent service then rely on them to do their job and you will have a much more relaxed experience in the months leading up to your big day.

We will make sure that you are going to look fantastic on one of the most important day's in your life. We've been doing it for 23 years for countless happy couples and we can do it for you too!

Let's not forget the Groom!...

...how could we?! We have just as much experience in formal hire for men & boys as we have with our Brides & Bridesmaids. We will be able to advise, if you require it, on which suit is best. We can co-ordinate the men's clothing beautifully with yours and your bridesmaids so the finished look is stunning. As a gift to the men in the party they can keep their shirt and if there are 7 adults then the grooms suit is free. (These offers do not include Highland Wear) Our formal hire details can be found here.

When the day is over have you thought about the after care of your beautiful gown? Bring it back to us and we will send it to be professionally dry cleaned. We are agents for an environmentally friendly dry-cleaning company who specialise in dry-cleaning Bridal gowns and men's suits. (They also dry clean other garments). If you require we can then box your gown for storage.

A few tips...........

Your wedding dress should be put on at the last possible minute to minimise the risk of creasing or spills. Handle the skirt carefully when sitting or kneeling.

Take care with your make up if it needs touching up after putting on your dress.

Take extra care on a wet day as damp confetti can sometimes cause staining. The mark may prove difficult to remove.

Have your gown cleaned as soon as possible after it has been worn so that all stains,  perspiration marks and body oils don't set in. The stains you can't see, like champagne or perspiration will soon develop during storage causing permanent yellow or brown marks to appear.

Remove any padding or perspiration shields before storage as these may deteriorate and cause staining.

Once your gown has been cleaned, either have it professionally boxed in specialised tissue by us or remove it from it's plastic covering yourself and store it in a dry box lined with acid free tissue. This is especially important as it will prevent any transfer of colour from the paper on to the fabric.

It is important not to store your gown in plastic as this may prevent the fabric breathing and may cause yellowing.

Ensure you store the box in a cool dry environment away from any dampness or direct sunlight.

We look forward to helping you both on this most important occasion!
